Mosaic / Pixelate Image
Blur out faces, license plates, and personal details by pixelating a selected area. A free, browser-based mosaic tool — select a region, apply a mosaic, and download, with nothing uploaded to a server.
Hide sensitive areas with a mosaic
Draw a rectangle, ellipse, or lasso over the part you want to hide — a face, a name tag, a phone number, a license plate — and apply a mosaic to pixelate just that area. Cover several spots in one image and adjust each as you go.

Control the block size
Adjust the block size to make the mosaic coarse or fine. Larger blocks hide details more strongly, while smaller blocks keep a subtle pixelation. You can also pixelate the whole image at once.

Frequently asked questions
How do I mosaic just one part of an image?
Switch to Selected area, choose a rectangle, ellipse, or lasso, then drag over the part you want to hide. Press Apply mosaic and only that area is pixelated. You can move or resize the selection with the handles before applying, and repeat to cover several areas.
Is this good for hiding faces or personal information?
Yes. A mosaic is a common way to obscure faces, names, phone numbers, addresses, license plates, and other personal details before sharing a photo or screenshot. Use a larger block size for stronger hiding. Note that a very light mosaic over small text can sometimes still be readable, so check the result and increase the block size if needed.
What is block size?
Block size sets how large each mosaic square is, in pixels. A larger value makes coarser blocks that hide more detail, while a smaller value keeps a finer, subtler look.
| Block size | Result |
|---|---|
| Small | Fine pixelation, detail still hinted |
| Medium | Balanced hiding for most uses |
| Large | Strong blocks that hide details firmly |
Can I undo a mosaic or start over?
Yes. Use Undo to step back the last mosaic you applied, or Reset to restore the original image. Each Apply can be undone one step at a time, so you can fine-tune the areas you covered.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. The image you choose is never sent to a server and is processed entirely in your browser. Selecting the area, applying the mosaic, and generating the result all happen locally, so it's safer for personal photos and document captures.
Which format should I download?
You can download as PNG or WebP. PNG keeps crisp quality with a larger file size, while WebP keeps good quality at a smaller size. For photos shared on the web, WebP is usually efficient; for the sharpest result, choose PNG.
